At SET Cleaning, we pride ourselves on providing the best cleaning services to our clients. This includes being an extremely pet-friendly business.
In fact, our company mascot is a pit bull named Blu. Blu has come to the office for years with Suzanne, the owner of SET Cleaning. Blu isn’t just a family dog; she’s a gorgeous pit bull with a loving and playful side that greets visitors to the SET Cleaning offices.
In fact, Blu is so special that she even helps Cynthia during the interview process. Blu is an important test that applicants must pass to ensure that they not only love dogs, but that they’re not intimidated or scared of them. Many SET clients have dogs, so it’s an important test for us and for our clients. We take every measure to ensure that everything runs smoothly between our technicians and pets during our cleanings. (Most applicants pass the Blu test, but not all do.)
Blu has done a great job over the last few years by greeting employees in the morning and motivating them to get out the door, and by greeting visitors when they stop in. She’s particularly fond of a few UPS and Fedex drivers, as they’re friendly, have dog treats, and even play with her sometimes.
But Suzanne began to realize that Blu would be even happier with a companion.
A FRIEND FOR BLU
About a month ago, one of our team leaders, Brandy, stopped by the Cumberland Animal Rescue after work. As any animal lover knows, when you visit a shelter, you experience a wide range of emotions. She noticed a light brown and white male pit bull named Zeus.
Brandy learned that Zeus came to the Cumberland County Animal Control after his owner passed away. Zeus was two years old, great with people, and exceptionally awesome with the other animals at the shelter. It was clear to Brandy that Zeus was a gentle, sweet, and loving dog, and that he needed a new home soon that would be full of love and attention.
Brandy immediately thought about Suzanne and Blu. She had an instinctive feeling that the two dogs would probably make the best of friends. She called Suzanne and sent her pictures of the adorable dog. Suzanne fell in love with Zeus’s picture, and after talking with Brandy and hearing his story, she knew this might be the perfect match for Blu.
Brandy completed the necessary steps to rescue Zeus from the shelter, and she took him home with her. Zeus was overly happy and well-behaved that night, and he especially loved a much-needed bath, after being in the shelter for over a month.
The biggest test, however, would be the next day—when Zeus would meet Blu.
ZEUS’S INTERVIEW
In order for Zeus to be part of Suzanne’s family and another company dog for SET Cleaning, he would have to pass the Blu test. The morning after his adoption, Brandy took Zeus to SET Cleaning to meet Blu and Suzanne.
Zeus and Blu were introduced, and they instantly hit it off. Blu enjoyed having a four-legged friend to play with, and Zeus learned what it was like to have a new sister that loves to play as he does.
That evening, Suzanne took Blu and Zeus home. Her family fell in love with him as quickly as Blu did. Zeus seemed to quickly understand that he was now part of the Hayzlett family.
Now, both Blu and Zeus come to work at SET Cleaning every day. Like Blu, Zeus loves greeting employees and visitors (and getting treats from their favorite delivery drivers!).
PET-FRIENDLY CLEANING SERVICE
Our passion is cleaning, but we have a strong dedication to pets as well. Like us, many of our clients consider their pets to be part of their families. That’s why we take extra measures to screen applicants—so we can ensure that we hire the best technicians to perform cleaning services, while respecting and interacting appropriately with your pets during our cleaning services.
Unlike other maid or cleaning services, we use products that are safe for everyone in your house, including your pets. The vacuums we use are powerful enough to be able to get all the pet hair off of floors and off of sofas and chairs. We also train our technicians to watch for nose prints on windows and drool on floors.
SET technicians will understand your cleaning needs, including specific pet cleaning services, no matter how many legs or how much hair your pets may have.
HELPING FRIENDS OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL
Zeus was one of many loving animals that need a home at the Cumberland County Animal Control Center. We’re fortunate to have found him and we couldn’t be happier that he’s now part of our family.
While we don’t provide cleaning services in the Cumberland area, we hope to connect other families with pets living in the shelter. Like Zeus, they deserve to find loving, kind, and clean homes to spend the rest of their lives.
If a new pet isn’t an option, there are other ways to help the shelter find wonderful homes for these pets.
Currently, the shelter has a Tee-Shirt Booster program to help raise money for the shelter. You can get this cute tee-shirt for $24.99 here ($7.00 of every tee-shirt goes directly to the shelter).
Donate money or items to the Cumberland County Animal Control’s donation page. Here are some of the items that are always in need:
Blankets and towels
Food (cat and dog food, though in the spring and fall we are always in desperate need of kitten and puppy food)
All sizes of cloth martingale collars and plain leashes
Snacks and extra-durable Kong toys
Non-porous toys (no soft toys with stuffing, please)
Donation drop-offs are accepted at Cumberland County Animal Control (11 Range Road, Cumberland, VA) or at our office (2927 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA).
You may also give your donations to one of our employees, who will bring it back to our office for delivery to the shelter. Brandy will gladly drop off donations at the shelter; it gives her a reason to stop by and play with all the animals!
Thank you in advance for your consideration and donations to Cumberland County Animal Control!
